OBITUARY, Pioneer-Republican, Marengo, July 13, 1995:

"Funeral services for Harold Martinson, Sr., 66, Marengo, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, July 13, at First Lutheran Church, rural Conroy. He died early Tuesday morning, July 11, 1995, at Marengo Memorial Hospital, Marengo, following a sudden illness.

The Rev. Nathan Tuff will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Casket bearers will be Dan Sandersfeld, Michael Sandersfeld, Jason Sandersfeld, Matthew Burgy, Terry Martinson and Kurt Zingula.

A memorial has been established.

Hoover-Valentine Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Frederick Martinson was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Williamsburg, the son of Frank and Irene Schwarting Martinson. He graduated from Conroy High School in 1946.

He married Lorraine Shedenhelm Oct. 15, 1948, at Norway. In earlier years, he owned and operated Martinson Radio and T.V., Cedar Rapids and Marengo, and later Marengo Repair Service, Marengo. He was a certified hypnotherapist. One of his favorite enjoyments in life was flying.

Martinson is survived by his father, Frank, Marengo; one son, Harold Jr., and companion Ella Kaiser, Marengo; four daughters, Ava Simmons, and husband Robert Jr., Marengo; twins, Sharen Martinson, Malibu, Calif., and Karen Martinson, Marengo; and Donna Martinson, also Marengo; two sisters, Mary Ellen Sandersfeld and Gloria Burgy, both Amana; one brother, Edwin Martinson, Center Point; a special friend, Mary Betz, Marengo; his former wife, L. Lorraine Martinson Smith, Horse Shoe Bend, Ark., and five grandchildren, Corey and Cody Simmons and Kendra, Ivy and Emily Martinson.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two grandsons, Todd and Jeffry Simmons."
