Mary Anna Reynolds, 95, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Colonial Manor in Amana. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Peter's Catholic Church, Cosgrove. Father Ed Dunn will be officiating the service. Burial: St. Peter's Cemetery, Cosgrove. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. There will be a rosary at 5 p.m. by National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Altar/Rosary Society. A parish vigil service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary's name.
Mary was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Sabula, Iowa, to Paul and Mary Troy Ipsen. She graduated from high school, received her teaching certificate and was a teacher for eight years before marrying Cecil Reynolds on June 10, 1936, in Iowa City. Cecil died in 1970. Mary had lived in the Cosgrove area since 1945.
Mary was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, The Foresters, Altar & Rosary Society and Senior Citizens Club of Cosgrove. She was the school board secretary and helped raise her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her two children, Daryl (special friend Cheryl) of Oxford and Edith Louise Sladek (Howard) of Lee's Summit, Mo.; five grandchildren, Linda Barlow (Gene) of Leawood, Kan., Stephen Sladek of Chicago, Brian Reynolds (Melissa) of Cedar Rapids, Raymond Reynolds (Kimberly) of Dennison and Bruce Reynolds (Linda) of Oxford; eight great-grandchildren, Adam, Josh, Justin, Kaylin, Nicole, Nathan, Callie and Brittany; and a brother, Ed Ipsen of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and six siblings, Eugenia Swanson, John Ipsen, Ray Ipsen, Paul Ipsen, Gertrude Greazel and LaVerna Antone.Cedar Rapids Gazette
