Carol Faye Gates, 65, of Walford, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, in Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside, Calif., following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, by the Rev. Mike Townsley. Burial: Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her four children, Dennis (Pam) Gates of Riverside, Calif., Jeff (Jennifer) Gates of Hemet, Calif., Carolyn (Joe) Sharp of Norway, Iowa, and Bill (Laurie) Gates of Watkins, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kenneth (Lacy) Gates of Riverside, Calif., Jennifer (Jonathan) Kane of Corona, Calif., Valerie Gates of Hemet, Calif., and Christopher Gates of Norway, Iowa; two stepgrandchildren, Matthew Fults and Katie Jo Fults; and two great-grandchildren, Cadin Gates of Riverside, Calif., and Baby Kane of Corona, Calif. In addition, she is survived by a sister, Diana (Roger) Wiebold of Walford; and a brother, Richard (Cindy) Goldammer of Homestead.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her stepfather, David Goldammer.
Carol Faye Rumple was born March 1, 1939, in Ladora, Iowa, the daughter of Orvin M. Rumple and Eulah Maye Nail Rumple. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1957 and married Kenneth LeRoy Gates on Sept. 27, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a homemaker and for a time worked as a secretary and most recently as a sales clerk in the Amana Colonies gift shops.
