Mary C. Wilson was born September 24, 1916 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Cora Henry Clift. She graduated in 1934 from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and attended Drake University for a year then went to work for the Iowa Tuberculosis Association. Mary was united in marriage to Robert D. Wilson on August 12, 1938 in Des Moines. From the start of their marriage they worked very hard at putting the Lord first in their lives. In 1942 they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where their lives consisted of entertaining missionaries and preachers and having sessions of Christian children’s work in their basement. In 1964 they moved to Chicago area, there she worked as a cook for Emmaus Bible College and was in charge of the AWANA girls program at the church. On March 13, 1974 her husband of thirty-six years went home to be with the Lord. After his death she worked as an administrative assistant at the Emmaus Bible College. In 1978 she moved to Colorado Springs to live close to her daughter, there she worked at Compassion International until retirement in 1982. Because of declining health, in 1995 she moved into a assisted retirement apartment. In 2001 she moved to Parnell, Iowa to live with her son and family. In 2003 it was necessary for her to move to the Williamsburg Care Center and later moved to Windmill Manor in Coralville. Mary passed into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa after a extended illness at the age of 88 years. She is survived by two sons: Robert Wilson, Jr. and wife Sharla of Rockdale, Texas and Stephen Wilson and wife Barbara of Parnell; a daughter: Alice Swanson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren: Nancy Hicks and husband Darryl of Nashua, NH, Robert Wilson, III of Austin, Texas, David Wilson and wife Karen of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Amy Salve and husband Sunil of Colorado Springs, Colorado and five great grandchildren: Adam and Lauren Wilson, Anjali and Alayna Salve, Lindsey Hicks. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother John. Celebration of Life Service will be 6:30p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Mr. David Glock will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30p.m. to 6:30p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois. Memorials are for Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque.
