Arnie M. Sandvick, age 70 of Ladora, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at his home.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Jim Davis officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Victor Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9 – 11 A.M on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the Wounded Warrior Project. www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Arnie Marvin Sandvick was born June 28, 1947 in Nakano K. Tokyo, Japan, the son of Robert Lowell and Teruko Yoshizumi Sandvick. He received his education in the Ames schools and graduated from Ames High School. Arnie honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1966 – 1968 during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon his return he was employed with Amana Refrigeration for many years.

Arnie enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked to fish, work on cars and play cribbage. He was a talented artist, and had a passion for collecting toy cars, baseball and other sports cards, wizards and swords. Attending car shows was a favorite pastime. He was a compassionate man and always looked out for others.

He was active with the American Legion and contributed regularly and generously to the Wounded Warrior Project as well as other veteran programs., as well as other veteran programs.

Arnie is survived by his children, Tina York (Craig), and Terra Huber (Donnie) all of Ladora, A.J. Sandvick (Ashley) of Hartwick and Charlie Ludwig (Scott) of Pleasant Hill; six grandchildren, Jerod and Jordan York, Trevor Huber, Abby, Axton, and Arika Sandvick; a great- grandson, Aiden John Huber; and his mother Teruko Yoshizumi Sandvick of Ames.

Also surviving are his siblings, Audrey Crawford (Steven) of Nevada, IA, Al Sandvick (Norma) of Ames, and Arlene Zerr (Kelly) of Story City, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sandvick, and a granddaughter, Monica Lynn Huber-Lindsey.
