Celebration of life for Jean G. Roberts, 87, Victor, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Smith Funeral Home, Victor. She died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

Burial will be in Victor Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, 808 4th St., Victor, Iowa 52347.

Jean G. Roberts was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Marengo, the daughter of Ralph A. and Gertrude (Schumann) Freeze. She attended Marengo High School, graduating in 1947.

She married Darold “Shorty” Roberts Oct. 19, 1947, in Marengo. They made their home and raised three children, Terry, Annie and Tim, in Victor.

She was a homemaker and worked at Seaton’s Grocery Store for 35 years. She was a member of the Victor Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her true passion was time spent with family, friends and her pets. She spent many summers vacationing in Minnesota with family and friends. She loved taking the fishing boat out with Shorty and especially enjoyed having her grandchildren along. She was a big fan of their activities.

Roberts will forever be remembered by her children, Terry Roberts and Annie Gray, both Victor, and Tim (Vicki) Roberts, Bella Vista, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Cory) Timm and Cody (Brook) Roberts, all Victor; Macie Roberts, Amana; Jeremy (Melanie) Mahan, Newhall; Kyle (Erin) Gray, Hartwick; Kelli (Jason) Hoey, Belle Plaine; Joey (Laura) Roberts, Euless, Texas, and Katy (Mike) Housh, Springdale, Ark., as well as 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Chris Roberts, and her brother, Russell Freeze.
