William T. Burlage, age 83 of Middle Amana, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Parkview Manor, Wellman. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo with military honors. Visitation: 3 to 6 P.M. Monday, October 10, 2016, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with a Scripture Service at 5:30 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.

William is survived by his children, Mitchell of Burnsville MN, Mark (Cindy) of Kinross, Mike (Renetta) of Nichols, Ann Petersen (Mark) of Hartley, Greg (Lisa) of Bemidji, MN, and Jeff of Nevada; thirteen grandchildren, Delaney Burlage of Burnsville, MN, Paul (Amber) Burlage of Arlington, Matthew Burlage of Kinross, Sara and Luke Burlage of Nichols, Peyton and Reece Petersen of Hartley, Austin and Mason Burlage of Randolph, MN, and Elyse, Elizabeth, Elexis and Jackson Burlage of Nevada; his siblings, Grace Tallman of Davenport, John (Doris) Burlage of Monticello, Robert (Marilyn) Burlage of Monticello, Richard Burlage of Brooklyn, NY, Helen Hignite of Clarksville, AR, and Don (Marcia) Burlage of Tipton, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanne in 2012, a granddaughter Gracie Burlage, and brothers-in-law, Richard Tallman and Floyd Hignite.

William Theodore Burlage was born June 5, 1933 in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Frances Kurt Burlage. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Cascade with the Class of 1951. William served in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years, and married Jeanne O’Brien on September 7, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell, Iowa. The couple farmed near Coggon for 32 years, and moved to Middle Amana in 1992. He drove semi for several years, with the CB handle of “Corn cob”. William was a lifelong member of the Coggon and Cascade American Legions. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo. He loved to hear jokes and visit with people. William was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan.
