Celebration of life service for Marsha L. DeLay, 68, Williamsburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Harvest Baptist Church, Williamsburg. She entered the presence of her Savior on Oct. 3, 2016, at home in her travel trailer in Williamsburg, after a long battle with cancer.

Burial was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, at the Memorial Park Cemetery, in Davenport.

A general memorial fund has been established.

Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Marsha Lou DeLay was born Sept. 10, 1948, in Davenport, the daughter of Albert James and Velma (Kuehl) Keppy. She thoroughly enjoyed growing up a farmer’s daughter in Eldridge, being involved with 4-H and earning awards for her livestock. She graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge.

On July 10, 1971, she married the love of her life Donald Arthur DeLay. They enjoyed life together in California, Virginia, Missouri and Iowa and blessed many through their life together. Marsha worked at Intertrade in Cedar Rapids, for a number of years and retired in 2011. After retirement she was happy to follow her dreams by selling their home and moving into a travel trailer to spend her retirement years camping with Don.

She treasured her role as a mom and wife. In addition to raising their three children she also homeschooled them for a number of years. She was known by her kids’ friends as “Mama DeLay” and cheerfully welcomed those friends into their home as if they were her own. She also helped Don orchestrate many memorable family camping vacations.

Marsha was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and served faithfully there. She lived her life in a way that brought honor and glory to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was involved in children’s and women’s ministry and God worked through her to bless many through those ministries. As she entered heaven we know she looked into her Savior’s eyes and heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

The family wishes to thank the large number of friends and family who prayed for us, provided meals, provided care and who loved us through this time.

DeLay is survived by her husband, Donald Arthur DeLay, Williamsburg; three children John (Marti) DeLay, Chicago, Ill.; Laura (Matt) Santiamagro, Huxley, and Phil (Amy) DeLay, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Ashley O’Hara, Micah Santiamagro, Caleb DeLay and Lydia DeLay; a great-grandchild, Hayden Dorris; three siblings John (Becky) Keppy, Maysville; Doris (Keith) Martin, Eldridge, and Patti Pierce, Davenport, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Velma Keppy; her brother, James Keppy; her sister Denise Keppy; her daughter, Eunice DeLay, and twin granddaughters, McKenzie Kate and Hannah Joy Santiamagro.
