Funeral service for Frieda Kirkpatrick, 93, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. She died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at her home.

The Rev. Michael Erickson officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name to Bethany Lutheran Church, 2202 Forest Drive SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.

Frieda Elizabeth Kirkpatrick was born Dec. 15, 1922, in rural Iowa County, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Steinmetz) Schoenfelder.

She married Ralph Kirkpatrick on June 2, 1945, in Marengo. She was a bookkeeper for the Amana Society Bakery and then worked at Northwestern Bell until retiring. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Communications Workers of America and Lutheran Layman’s League. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Kirkpatrick is survived by her son, Ron (Cheryl) Kirkpatrick, Cedar Rapids; her daughter, Gloria (Ed) Schumacher, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Justin Kirkpatrick, Jodi (Todd) Knebel and Joanna (Travis) Godbey and Chris (Suzanne) Schumacher and Tonya (Shawn) Samuelson, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1981; her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
