Mass of Christian burial for Adam J. Healey, 32, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Victor, was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Victor. He died on Thursday, September 1, 2016, near Palo.

Fr. Corey Close presided at the service.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Victor. Pallbearers were Chase Hansen, Brian and Jared Herzberg, Mark and Stan Kovar and Dustin Van Nevel.

Memorials may be designated to the Adam J. Healey Memorial Fund, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 485, Victor, Iowa 52347.

Adam Joseph Healey was born May 19, 1984, the son of Edward Joseph Healey and Rebecca Ann (Butler) Healey at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. He was raised in Jacksonville, Fla., until the fifth grade, when the family moved to Victor. He graduated from HLV High School, Victor, in 2004. He attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and received his AA degree in fire science.

In 2007, he began working as a guard and a member of the CERT team at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center (Oakdale Prison), Coralville. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed going to football games at Kinnick Stadium. He attended the Big Ten Iowa versus Michigan State championship football game in Indianapolis, Ind., last year. He also loved traveling to Chicago, St. Louis and Kansas City to watch Major League Baseball games. His other passion was watching NASCAR races and his favorite driver was Denny Hamlin. Adam will be remembered for his fun-loving personality, his infectious smile and laugh, his generosity in helping others, and for the love he had for family and friends.

Healey is survived by his father, Ed Healey, Victor; his mother, Becky Sheppard, Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers, Andrew (Kate) Healey, Orlando, Fla., and Ryan (Jenna) Healey, Groton, Conn.; his dog, Bowser, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Brooke Healey; paternal grandparents, Harry and Lucille Healey; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Doris Butler; aunt, Wendy Butler, and uncle, Ken Butler.
