Ralph W. Chapman, 86, Williamsburg, died Sept. 13, 2016, at Lantern Park, Care Initiatives, Coralville. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Wesley Chapman was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Bussey, the son of James (Daniel) and Emma Chapman. He attended school in Bussey and started working at a young age. He worked for The Valve in Oskaloosa for 16-plus years and retired from Amana Refrigeration after 24 years.

He married Laurene Morrison (Fry) on Dec. 11, 1965, and moved from Oskaloosa to Williamsburg in 1970. He enjoyed going camping, old country music and some blue grass music. He also enjoyed walking at the mall and rec center and visiting with people.

Chapman is survived by his wife, Laurene, Williamsburg; his step-children, Sharon (Tom) Hegewald, Williamsburg; Darrell (Rhonda) Morrison, Cedar Rapids; Diana (Jon) Tory, Riverside; Richard (Darlene) Morrison, Marengo; six step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Belly Chapman, Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a nephew.
