Cheryl L. Sparrowgrove-Worcel, 58, Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. The family received friends Monday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with a celebration of life service following.

A memorial fund has been established.

Cheryl Lee Sparrowgrove-Worcel was born Sept. 28, 1957, in Patuxent, Md., the daughter of Harold and Marcia Beardsley Sparrowgrove. She attended Iowa Valley School, Marengo, and received her GED from Kirkwood Community College. She continued at Kirkwood and received her LPN. She attended the University of Iowa and received her surgical tech certification. She worked at an oncology practice as a med tech in West Hills, Calif., then later at Marengo Memorial Hospital as a lab tech.

In her earlier years, she loved riding horses. She enjoyed reading, writing, painting, watching classic movies, collecting glass angels, cooking and making homemade noodles. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her animals.

Sparrowgrove-Worcel is survived by her three sons, Zach (Mariah Trujillo), Dylan and Trevor Worcel, all Cedar Rapids; her father, Harold; two sisters, Sandra (Lorne) Koenig, Marengo, and Michelle Sparrowgrove, Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Lily and Roman Worcel; the father of her children, Allen Worcel, Homestead, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
