Funeral service for Doris A. Weiss, 86, Williamsburg, formerly of Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. She died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

The Rev. Gary Sears officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, was in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.klosterfuneralhome.com.

Doris Ann Weiss was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Conroy, the daughter of Gottfried and Elizabeth Borlin Furler. She graduated from Conroy Hilton High School in 1947.

She married Eldon Walter Weiss May 8, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. The couple were member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, since 1955. They farmed in Iowa County for many years. Later, she worked as a CNA at Rose Haven Nursing Home. She served on the altar guild and with the Ladies Aid at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. She enjoyed softball games and roller skate dancing with her husband. In her youth, she enjoyed playing six-on-six basketball.

Weiss is survived by her husband, Eldon; daughters, Tammy (Darryl) Vogt, Noble, Okla., and Ann Kjos, Williamsburg; son, Glen, Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Mandi (Eric) Niebes, Lueck, Kalona; Melissa (Reg) Niebes Zeller, Minneapolis, Minn.; Sara Kjos, Winona, Minn.; Nicholas Vogt, Cedar Rapids, and two great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Lorelei Lueck; her brother, Bill (Dorothy) Furler, and her sister, Vivian Hinrichs, all Williamsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
