Celebration of life service for Lloyd M. Hervey, 91, Keswick, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Keswick United Methodist Church. He went to be with the Lord June 28, 2016, surrounded by family, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Burial was in the Sixteen Cemetery north of Thornburg.

Memorials may be made to the Keswick Methodist Church.

Powell Funeral Home, North English, was in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd M. Hervey was born Sept. 8, 1924, the son of Charles Bair and Blanche Ferree Hervey, north of Keswick, where he lived most of his life. After attending the country school, he graduated from Keswick High School in 1942.

He married Bernadine Taylor June 28, 1945. He farmed for several years and worked at Warder and Lee for 18 years. Later, he worked 13 years for the University of Iowa, in the carpentry shop, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Keswick Methodist Church, where he served on the church board and other positions. For 15 years, he served with Bernadine, organizing the church ice cream supper. He was assistant leader of the Prairie Rustlers 4-H club. He spent many hours helping his daughters with their 4-H livestock and projects. One of his greatest joys were his three grandchildren, Taylor and Bailey, twin granddaughters, and his only grandson, Bret. He drove many miles to watch them participate in sports, especially softball and baseball.

The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in the summer of 2015 with an open house at the Keswick Methodist Church.

He died on the day of their 71st wedding anniversary.

Hervey is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bernadine; three daughters, Barbara, Clive; Bonnie, Osceola, and Betsy (Jamie) Barnett, Indianola; three grandchildren, Taylor, Bailey and Bret; several nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rex and Elroy.
