Kenneth Karl Neumann, age 81 of Amana, passed away peacefully at Colonial Manor, of Amana, on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Norway, Iowa, with Fr. Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will be at the Fairfax Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Shirley of 59 years; a sister Rosella (Ron) Vogt, Homestead; a brother-in-law Henry G. Schuhmacher and two sisters-in-law Rosemary Schuhmacher and Mary Carville; nieces, Kerri Vogt, Diane (Mineard) Smith and Pamela (Gil) Wahl; nephews Mark Vogt and Henry T. Schuhmacher. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth was born on December 12, 1934, in West Amana, the son of Gus and Emilie Haldy Neumann. He worked at the West Amana Farms prior to graduating in 1952, from Amana High School. He married Shirley Carville in 1956 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Walford. After high school, he served in the Iowa National Guard for seven years and worked at Amana Refrigeration as an inspector in the service department for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. Kenneth enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing and collecting walnuts with his dogs. He loved to travel, was an avid sports fan, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Clear Creek Amana softball team. He liked going out to dinner with Shirley at the Olive Garden and Pizza Ranch.
