Kolene Estella Fetzer Dill, 97, of The Woodlands at the Meth-Wick Community, formerly of Norton, Va., died Saturday, March 19, 2016. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at First Presbyterian Church by Pastor Herb Isenberg. Burial: West End Cemetery, Wytheville, Va., at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Kolene was born May 1, 1918, in Iowa County, the daughter of Michael and Estella Bratt Fetzer. She attended grade school in Iowa County and graduated from Victor High School in 1936. She later graduated from cosmetology school and was employed at the beauty salon in Parker's Department Store in Davenport.

Kolene was united in marriage to Dr. E.M. Dill, D.C., of Virginia, in 1945. Dr. Dill preceded her in death. While living in Virginia, she attended and held offices in Norton Presbyterian Church and served one term as treasurer of Abingdon Presbyterian Synod of Appalachia, Va. She also earned her 25-year pin in Lonesome Pine Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Kolene moved to Cedar Rapids in 1987 and became a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served Sunday evening meals and funeral receptions, worked in the thrift store, and news and views. She was also a member of the Golden K's Kiwanis Club, having served as treasurer, program chairman and historian. While living at Meth-Wick, she volunteered on the chaplain committee and special events committee.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Maxine Fetzer; six nieces and nephews, Douglas (Mary Ellen) Fetzer, Donna Jo (Ken) Smith, Jim (Connie) Fetzer, Mike (Carol) Fetzer, Jan (Don) Hilsman and Joan (Andy) Roth; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and 16 great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Kathryn Sinn Schwiebert; and three brothers, Russell, Orrin (Doris) and Wesley Fetzer.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church Kitchen Remodeling Project and/or The Woodlands at the Meth-Wick Community.
