Jerry Zavodsky Jr., 91, of Marengo, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.

A funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Koszta Cemetery in Koszta, IA with military honors.

Jerry was born July 25, 1924 in rural Marengo, the son of Jerry and Frances (Dvorak) Zavodsky. He attended country school, following school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After the military he came home to work on the family century farm. December 17, 1947 Jerry was married to Gladys Kubik in Marengo at the Presbyterian Church.

Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with others.

He was a member of the Marengo American Legion and served on their firing squad.

Jerry is survived by his wife Gladys; sons, Jerry (Robin) Zavodsky III of Pleasantville, IA, Michael Zavodsky of Marengo, IA; grandchild, Justin Zavodsky of Pleasantville and many more loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys Zavodsky, Ruth Gorsch and brother, Raymond “Mike” Zavodsky.
