Funeral service for Sarah McEnaney, 83, New Hartford, was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at New Hartford United Methodist Church. She died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.

The Rev. Jerry Avise-Rouse officiated at the service.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford.

Memorials may be made to the New Hartford United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Sarah Lee Yarcho Johnson McEnaney was born March 1, 1932, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Clyde Henry and Harriet Mae (Bates) Yarcho. She was baptized in 1932, attended school in Cedar Falls and graduated in 1950. Later in life, she graduated from the business management program at Hawkeye Tech.

She married Herbert LeRoy Johnson June 21, 1953, in Cedar Falls. They couple was blessed with four sons. Her husband died July 30, 1975.

She married John McEnaney Feb. 14, 1981, in New Hartford. Throughout her life, she was a homemaker. She also worked at Midwest Region Inc., from 1978 to 1992 and part-time at the hardware store and Ingalls Little House Cafe, both in New Hartford.

She was a member of the New Hartford United Methodist Church, serving on many committees, and the New Hartford Women’s Club. She enjoyed ceramics, camping and collecting teddy bears and bird houses. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was known to them at “Grandma Peewee” and “Great Sarah.”

McEnaney is survived by her husband, John; three sons, Michael (Pam) Johnson, Marengo; Randy (Becky) Johnson, New Hartford, and Tim Johnson, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Teresa Johnson, Waterloo; step-children, Laura (Tim) Mesenbrink, Dike, and John Leo McEnaney, Singapore; eight grandchildren, Stacy (Shane) Stull, Matt (Sara) Johnson, Dustin (Nicole) Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Jonna (Kyle) Grandon, Jeremiah (Sarah) Johnson, Josh (Lydia) Johnson and Jennifer (Nate) Green; one step-grandchild, David (Jennifer) Mesenbrink; 13 great-grandchildren, Braxten Johnson, Kyleigh and Laney Grandon, Hannah and Logan Johnson, Dylan and Lane Johnson, Isaac and Ian Johnson, Ajay, Dax and Quincy Johnson and Preston Green; one step-grandchild, Ariella Mesenbrink; one sister, June Holland, Florida; one sister-in-law, Lorraine (Pete) Hoffman, Ames, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her son, Todd Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Ed Kruse, and brothers-in-law, Curt Holland and Donald and Betty Johnson.
