Charles Alvin Grove, 92, died January 23, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born November 26, 1923 near South English Iowa to Homer A. And Dorothy Newsom Miller Grove. He graduated from South English High School and attended Iowa State. Charles served in the United States Army during World War II serving in the European Theater. He later attended Manchester College in N. Manchester, Indiana. On June 8, 1947 he married June Rosalee Mathias at the Burton Methodist Church near Rochester, Indiana. They returned to South English area to farm and later farmed in Palo Alto and Appanoose Counties. Charles had the calling of the ministry and served 4 churches in Iowa and Missouri. He retired at the age of 82 and returned to the South English.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren, he was a member of the Farm Bureau serving on the boards of Keokuk, Palo Alto and Appanoose Counties. He was active in 4-H, the Republican party and ran for State Representative in 1976.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother James Grove, Sister Phyllis James, nephew Larry Grove and grandson-in-law Usen-Enoh Edittu.

He is survived by his wife June and children Christine (Jerry) Tobias of Conrad, IA, David (Glenda) Grove of Unionville, IA, Thomas Grove of South English, IA, Yolanda (David) Butler of Eldora, IA, Rosalea (Tim) Cox of Cushing OK, 13 grandchildren Katie (Peter) Kohl, Matthew Tobias, Mark (Samantha) Tobias, Robby Tobias finance Lexi Daugherty, Eric Grove, Adam Grove, Daniel (Alisa) Butler, Rachel Edittu, Quinton (Grace) Butler, Kira Cox, TJ (Lindsey) Cox, Tabitha ( Patrick) Jalbert, Celena Cox. 10 Great- grandchildren Blessing Iniabasi Edittu, Abigail Butler, Ellie Butler, Alexander Butler, Grace and Gabriel Tobias, Lily and Maecie Kohl, Emily and Heather Carroll and a brother- in- law Joe Mathias of Kokomo, Indiana.

Funeral Services: Tuesday 9:30 A.M. at the English River Church of the Brethren near South English and later Tuesday 2:00 P.M. at Fairview Church of the Brethren near Unionville, IA
Burial: Church Cemetery
Visitation Monday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney, Iowa
