Jeanne M. Brown, age 83 of High Amana, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 7, 2015, First Lutheran Church, rural Conroy, Iowa with Rev. Don Dovre officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, November 6, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

Jeanne is survived by her husband Earl; three children, Dixie Hildenbrand (Michael) of Oskaloosa, Randy Brown of Williamsburg, and Shelly Schumacher (Mark) of Amana; nine grandchildren, Tanya Hildenbrand of Bellville, IL, Nicole Elgin (Seth) of Ankeny, Angela Groet (Duane) of Noblesville, IN, Michael Hildenbrand Jr. of Oskaloosa, Sheena Hogue (Josh) of Tiffin, Kyle Schumacher (Ashley) of Tiffin, Brandy Myers (Ryan) of Tiffin, Stephanie Frias (Carlos) of Williamsburg, and Hannah Irinaka (Trevor) of Oregon; twelve great-grandchildren, Ashton, Kierston, and Joston Groet, Miles Hogue, Aiden and Jade Hildenbrand, Sophia and Loren Elgin, Piper and Preston Myers, and Mabelle and Dominico Frias.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Merrill, Charles, and Francis Sykes.

Jeanne Marie Sykes was born July 25, 1932 in Brayton, Iowa, the daughter of Errol and Marie Nelson Sykes. She attended the Brayton schools and married Earl Brown on August 20, 1950 at Oak Hill Lutheran Church, rural Brayton. Throughout her life Jeanne had worked at the Amana Whirlpool cafeteria, the Amana school cafeteria, the Barn Restaurant and the Colony Inn. She was a member of First Lutheran Church rural Conroy, Iowa, and the Marengo American Legion Auxiliary. She loved being with her family and celebrating special occasions. Her kitchen was always filled with the smells of homemade cookies, cakes, pies and countless meals. She enjoyed going to church on Sundays and her favorite place to eat was the Landmark Restaurant. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her proudest achievement. She will be missed by them all, and by countless others.
