Gladys Nadine Berger was born April 20, 2013,[1913] near Blairstown, the daughter of Edgar and Susan Hartz Huff. She attended Benton County and Marengo schools.

She married Otto C. Berger June 15, 1935, at the Methodist parsonage in Marengo. The couple made their home in South Amana where she worked at the South Amana Sandwich Shop for many years. Her husband died Dec. 28, 1965. She continued to live in South Amana for 46 years until she moved to Colonial Manor of Amana at the age of 96.

Her family would like to thank Nadine’s “other family,” the staff at Colonial Manor of Amana, for the excellent and compassionate care they gave her over the last six years; Iowa City Hospice for their excellent care, guidance and assistance following her stroke, and her South Amana friends who looked out for her all her years at home, especially her later years. She will be missed but as she would have said, “We had a good time!”

Berger is survived by nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents and nine siblings, Gertie Schuhart, Mamie Roderick, Claire Wilder, Marie Danskin, Glenn Huff, Lyle Huff, Mel Huff, Ada Hunzelman and Ida Engel.
