Charles Lear

Graveside service for Charles F. Lear, Peachtree City, Ga., was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the East Amana Cemetery. He died July 22, 2015, in Peachtree City.

Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles F. Lear graduated from Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, Ohio, and joined the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. He worked for the U.S. Department of Defense until retiring in 1993.

He was an avid reader of history and a world-wide traveler. During the course of his career and later during retirement, he visited more than 80 countries. He enjoyed skiing and was president of the American Ski Clubs in Europe during the 1960s.

He loved volksmarching and was president of the McIntosh Trail Walkers in Peachtree City, where he lived for 24 years. As a pilot and member of the Dayton Aero Club, he gave many of his relatives and friends their first airplane ride.

Lear is survived by his wife, Luella Blechschmidt Lear, Peachtree City; one son, Craig (Stephanie) Lear, St. Joseph, Mich.; one daughter, Kristin (Michael) Wright, Columbia, Md.; grandchildren, Braeden, Maggie Louise and Kellen Lear, St. Joseph, and Victoria, Katherine, Kiernan and Ronan Wright, Columbia.
