MABEL JOHANNA O'HALLORAN

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, March 20, at Smith Funeral Home in Victor for Mabel Johanna O'Halloran, 88, formerly of Victor, who died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Crestview Nursing Home in Marion.

The Rev. Torger Johnson of the Victor United Methodist Church officiated, and organist Jane Alexander performed the selections, "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "In the Garden." Interment was in the Brooklyn Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The daughter of William H. and Jennie Bell Dixon O'Halloran, Mabel was born on Jan. 5, 1911, on a farm near Brooklyn. She was raised and educated in the Hartwick area, and was a graduate of Hartwick High School and spent two years Iowa State College in Ames.

She spent over 70 years on the family farm south of Hartwick, before moving to Victor in 1986, and Marion in 1997.

Mabel was employed as a bookkeeper for Koehn Motors in Victor and F.D. Potts Motor Company in Marengo. She also operated the Dairy Sweet in Marengo for many years.

Mabel was a member of the Holly Chapter of the Eastern Star in Malcom for 49 years, and was a past District Instructor. She was also a member of the White Shrine.

A brother, Russell O'Halloran, preceded her in death. She is survived by her nephew and his wife, James and Phyllis O'Halloran of Cedar Rapids.
