William Leslie Lockhart, age 73, of Amana, Iowa, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, on Monday, July 13, 2015. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, Dupont Cemetery, Johnson County, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.

William was born April 22, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Thomas Lockhart and Mamie Neimerck Lockhart. He received his education in the Cedar Rapids school district. William worked for the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department for over 30 years, serving as commissioner for some of that time. He married Susan Hemminger in 1958. William raised and raced greyhounds for the last 25 years.

William is survived by his wife Susan; a son, Robert (Suzanne) of Marengo; four daughters Leslie Vaughn of Cedar Rapids, Sherry Prior of Marengo, Sharon Sebetka of La Porte City, and Micky Lockhart of Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Ryan.
