Charles (Chub) Henry Kleinmeyer, age 87 of Williamsburg, died Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Services were Monday, May 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with the Rev. Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Visitation was at the church. Inurnment is at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Charles (Chub) Henry Kleinmeyer, was born Jan. 1, 1928 in Marengo, the son of Martin and Lizzie Sandersfeld Kleinmeyer. Chub attended Lutheran Interparish School.

He served in the U.S. Army from March 1946 to August 1947.

On May 22, 1949, Chub was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Healey in Marengo, Iowa. He lived most of his life in Williamsburg. Chub was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. When he was 16, he went to work for Yoder and Swartzendruber at the Ford garage. He worked here until he went to service and then back to the Ford garage upon returning home from service. In 1972, Charles purchased the Sinclair station in Williamsburg. Then in 1979 Chub went to the Williamsburg Public School as bus mechanic and later as transportation director until he retired in June 1990.

Chub helped build the first golf course, Sport Hill, and served on the board of directors. He was a former member of the commercial club, Williamsburg Fire Department and Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing and doing the crossword puzzles reading and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Michael (Claudia) Kleinmeyer, his sister, Ruth (Dwight) Gahring, two grandsons, Blake (Ann) Kleinmeyer, Jared (Lea) Kleinmeyer, a granddaughter Sheridan Penney (Chris), and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter Carol, his parents, and two sisters.
