LAST RITES HELD ON MONDAY AFTERNOON FOR JAKE HEDIGER
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Harrison Funeral home in Marengo for Jake Hediger, 68 in charge of Rev. O. B. Preston of Williamsburg. Mr. Hediger died Saturday morning at his home following a long illness.
Two selections "In The Garden" and 'The Lords Prayer" were played by Mrs. R. R. Hibbs. Mrs. Marvin Bahr and Mrs. Ray Schall were in charge of the flowers. Pallbears were Frank Rathjen, Jake Rathjen, Clarence Rathjen, J. A. Schafbuch, Charles Langlas, and W. C. Langlas. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery.
Mr. Hediger was born in Morton, Ill., Jan. 31, 1886 to Rudolph and Christina Hediger. When a small boy he moved to Elgin Ill, where he made his home until 1917 when he came to Sumner Township.
In 1918 he was married to Rose Rathjen of Marengo. He engaged in farming until March, 1950, when he moved to Marengo where he has since made his home.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters , Mrs. Shirley Dye of Marengo and Phyllis Hediger of Ceder Rapids; a son Dean Hediger of Marion, and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, two sisters and one brother
