ELETHA FAY HARRIER

Eletha Fay Harrier, 86, died on Sunday, Jan. 23, at Marengo Memorial Hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home in Victor, with burial at the Victor Memorial Cemetery in Victor. The Rev. Torger Johnson officiated, and pallbearers were Kevin Rohrer, Marty Kolars, Taylor Kolars, Richard Schlesselman, Robert Sill and Lee Slaymaker.

Memorials may be made to the Victor United Methodist Church Women or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Grinnell.

The daughter of Peter and Hester Mary Nace Harrier, she was born May 21, 1907, in Victor. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1927 and attended Drake University, receiving her master's degree in elementary education in 1933.

She taught in several Iowa and Nebraska schools for 35 years, and retired in 1971 from the Des Moines schools.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Grinnell, the Iowa State Education Association, Zeta Delta Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity and the Des Moines Chapter JM of PEO. A 50-year member of the Drake Alumni Association, she was also a member of the Des Moines Retired Teachers Association, the Iowa Teachers Association and the Iowa State Education Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Blanche Rohrer and one brother, who died in infancy.

Survivors include two nephews, Don and Richard Rohrer, both of Victor; six great-nieces, one great-nephew, and several cousins.
