Gerald "Jerry" L. King, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at West Ridge Care Center following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, by Pastor Clinton Jeffers, at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Kelynn (Kevin J.) Schulte of Norway; three grandchildren, Kyle J. Schulte, Carter J. Schulte and Malea K. Schulte; sister, Jean Oswald of Loveland, Colo.; brother, Larry (Martha) King of Bella Vista, Ark.; sister-in-law, Virginia Griffin of Palo; and special friend, Pat Humeston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lulubee (2009); brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Shirley King; and brother-in-law, Allen Oswald.
Gerald Leroy was born Nov. 13, 1924, in North English, the son of Raymond and Gertrude (Wallace) King. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Lulubee Barbara Mawdsley on Nov. 12, 1950. Gerald and Lulubee owned and operated Rosemont Gardens Nursery and Flower Shop for 37 years.
Gerald was a member of the Church of Covington and the Iowa Christmas Tree Growers Association.
He loved music, traveling, camping and dancing.
