Rose Adam, 83

Funeral Mass for Rose M. Adam, 83, Wellman, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wellman. She died Thursday, April 17, 2014, with her family by her side at Pleasantview Home, Kalona.

The Rev. David Brownfield officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Wellman Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph Catholic Church sound system or Iowa City Hospice.

Rose Marie Adam was born Feb. 27, 1931, near Keota, the daughter of Glenn E. and Gayle Alice (Ginther) Cupp. She graduated from Keota High School and attended business college in Davenport.

She married Vernon F. “Bud” Adam Aug. 2, 1951, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Keota. The couple made their home east of Wellman in 1957.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she led rosary for 17 years, enjoyed church activities and helped with meals on wheels.

She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, painting, gardening, quilting, knitting and crocheting.

Adam is survived by her seven children, Jim (Cindy) Adam, Kalona; Mary Kay (Amos) Borntreger, Sarasota, Fla.; Kenneth (Vicki) Adam, Kalona; Sandra (Rodney) Joseph, Williamsburg; David (Susan) Adam, Kalona; Jeff (Jennifer) Adam, Iowa City, and Nick Adam, Wellman; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Houseal, Wellman; Betty Jacobs, Marshalltown, and Connie Mangold, Wapello.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1997; her parents; one sister, Shirley Peiffer, and an infant grandson of Kenneth and Vicki.
