William Behrens, 73

Funeral service for William “Bill” H. Behrens, 73, Forest Hill, Md., formerly of Williamsburg, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Evans Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, Forest Hill. He died March 25, 2014, while driving a tractor-trailer, hauling two cars on an off-ramp in Maryland, not far from his home.

William Henry Behrens was born June 4, 1940, the son of Walter and Louise Behrens. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1958, served two years in the Army and worked for C and P Telephone Company as a technician. He enjoyed farming, loved driving trucks and was an avid camper.

He was the beloved husband of Judie (Kapfer) Behrens for 52 years. He was a devoted father of Michael W. Behrens Jr. and wife Penny, Mark D. Behrens and wife Tina Poveaux and Matthew A. Behrens; a loving grandfather of Amanda, Michael and Alex Behrens; dear brother of Mary Lou Doran and husband Gene, and half-brother of Richard Behrens and paternal aunt Margaret Bohstedt.

He was preceded in death by his mother, in 1944; his father, in 1970; one brother, “Butch” Walter Behrens, in 1953, and his stepmother, Florence, in 1992.

Suddenly on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 William Henry Behrens (73) of Forest Hill, from Williamsburg Iowa passed away. Mr. Behrens worked for C & P Telephone as a Technician; he enjoyed farming, loved driving trucks, and was an avid camper.

Family and friends will honor Bill’s life at the family owned Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services – Bel Air (Rts. 23 & 24 – Forest Hill) on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM, where a funeral will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014 beginning at 11 AM. Interment Private. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sunshine’s Angels P.O. Box 192, Street, Maryland 21154.
