Brenda McCammant, 52

Funeral service for Brenda L. McCammant, 52, Ladora, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, at First United Methodist Church, Marengo. She died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The Rev. Matt German officiated at the service.

Inurnment will be in the Ladora Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial fund has been established.

Brenda Lee McCammant was born Jan. 16, 1962, in Marengo, the daughter of Paul and Gladys Lutz Dietze. She attended HLV schools.

She married Michael McCammant Feb. 12, 1979, in Williamsburg. She worked as a waitress at Middle America Restaurant in Williamsburg for several years. She was then employed by Aramark at the cafeteria at Whirlpool for seven years and most recently as a counselor with Systems Unlimited in Williamsburg.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed many activities with her family and friends. She loved to go camping and fishing. She enjoyed gardening and garage sales. She was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan and had a soft spot for horses and “her” convertible. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and all who knew her.

McCammant is survived by her husband, Michael; five children, Melissa, Marengo; Carrie, Ladora; Jodi, Coralville, and Laura and Seth, Ladora; three grandchildren, Katrina, Keagen and Jayla Engelbart; two brothers, Rick (Katy) Dietze and Reggie (Linda) Dietze, all Victor; three sisters, Judy (Jerri) Damerval; Kathy (Maury) Hartz and Becky (Dean) Schmuecker, all Marengo; a sister-in-law, Linda Dietze, Marengo, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leslie “Red” Dietze.
