Joseph O’Donnell, 61

Mass of Christian burial for Joseph A. O’Donnell, 61, Minneapolis, Minn., was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Minneapolis. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.

Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes.

Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel, Minneapolis, was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph O’Donnell started as a buyer for Powers Department Store and then was a stay-at-home dad. He got his teaching certificate and spent most of his career teaching kindergarteners. He was a long-time member, volunteer and part-time employee at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

O’Donnell is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Julie [Ahrens]; one daughter, Molly (Brian) McFarlane; one son, Anthony (Becca); grandchildren, Ellen, Kate, Kerri, Gabe, Evelyn and Oliver; mother-in-law, Maxine Ahrens; brothers-in-law, Dick Ahrens, Steve Ahrens and Norb Neira; sister-in-law, Sue Ahrens; Cathey, Jeff, Ann, Christine and Drew, and by nephews, nieces and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph [O'Donnell] and Olga [Ahrens]
