Marlene Gorsch, 85

Funeral service for Marlene C. Gorsch, 85, Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

The Rev. Matt German officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established.

Marlene Catherine Gorsch was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Waterloo, the daughter of Walter and Anna Weber Bauler. She graduated from St. Mary’s of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center, in 1946.

She married Carroll Gorsch Jan. 6, 1951, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Newhall. The couple farmed in Iowa county for many years. She also worked at the Koszta Store, now “Boone’s.”

She was a member of the Happy Homemakers, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo, and the Marengo Bowling League. She enjoyed baking and cooking but loved to play bingo, bowl and play pepper with her family and friends. She worked the Gazette puzzle page on a daily basis.

Gorsch is survived by her sons, Carroll Jr. “Skip” (Harry Soppe), Marengo; Terry, Hubbard, and Denny (Rose), Chelsea; nine grandchildren, Trevor Gorsch (Sarah), Tara Jo Gorsch (Alex DeVries), Kori Gorsch Beck, Kelley Gorsch Jenney (Justin), Kasie Gorsch (Cyle Bowers), Dustin Gorsch (Megan), Dylan Gorsch-Soppe, Taylor Gorsch and Alicia Gorsch-Soppe; 11 great-grandchildren, Autumn Gorsch, Hunter Gorsch, Jared Jenney, Kaleb Gorsch, Wyatt Beck, Madison Jenney, Megan Gorsch, Skylar Beck, Chase Bowers, Raelyn Gorsch and Nicole Jenney; one sister-in-law, Bernice Bauler, Waterloo, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2012; her parents, and three brothers, Elmer Bauler, in infancy; Joseph “Doty” Bauler and Wilmer “Mick” Bauler and wife Dorothy.
