Mary Lou Wallace, 86

Funeral service for Mary Lou Wallace, 86, Joplin, Mo., was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel, Joplin. She died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at the Spring River Christian Village, Joplin.

Wallace Baldwin officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Oswego County Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Mercy Hospice, in care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel.

Mary Lou Wallace was born April 8, 1927, at Montana Switch, Kan., the daughter of John Henry and Dora Dell “Caldwell” Wells.

She married LeRoy Albert “Fluffy” Wallace March 31, 1946, in Miami, Okla. They were married 56 years before his death in 2003.

She worked as a supervisor for Digital Electronics, Westfield, Ma., and as a housewife, raising her children. She enjoyed league bowling, gardening and her grandchildren.

Wallace is survived by daughters, Linda (H. Stephen) Buswell, Marengo; Judith A. (Russ) Shimandle, La Grange, Ga., and A. LeRae (Randy) Scroggins, Joplin; one son, LeRoy A. Wallace II, Joplin; nine grandchildren, M. Christopher (Angela) Buswell, Marengo; A. Rion (Angela) Buswell, Parker, Colo.; Tara Shimandle, Atlanta, Ga.; Blair Shimandle, La Grange; Austin Miller and Hannah Miller,, both Joplin; Mary Miller, St. Louis, Mo.; Lee and Chelsey Wallace, Westfield, Ma., and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Leona Wells, Quanita Wells, George Wells, Thomas F. Wells, Neta Bell Joy and William F. Wells.
