Gene Cronbaugh, 81

Funeral service for Gene Cronbaugh, 81, Belle Plaine, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

The Rev. Diane Miller will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery with military honors.

A memorial fund has been established.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at Kloster Funeral Home.

Eugene Forest Cronbaugh was born May 26, 1932, on his family’s farm near Koszta, the son of Laurence and Wilma Gorsh Cronbaugh. He received his education in the Iowa County schools and attended Marengo High School. He served in the United States Army for two years.

He married Joan Benishek March 19, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Belle Plaine. He was a lifelong farmer in Iowa county.

He was a member of the Victor American Legion and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. He was a Chicago Cubs fan along with cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones.

Cronbaugh is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Randy (Ethel) Cronbaugh, Belle Plaine; Pam (John) Noyes, Marengo, and Rodney Cronbaugh (Tina Campbell), Belle plaine; five grandchildren, Troy, Crystal, Lisa and Ryan Cronbaugh and Katie (Darrin) Kinzenbaw; two great-grandchildren, Blayze and Brynnlee Cronbaugh; one sister-in-law, Janet (Clark) Vincent, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Cronbaugh, and a nephew, Scott Cronbaugh.
