Dennis Petz, 61

Dennis James Petz, 61, Davenport, formerly of Williamsburg, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Windmill Manor, Coralville.

In accordance with his wishes, private family services were held.

Denny Petz was born June 29, 1952, in Marengo, the son of Edward and Audrey (Smith) Petz. Throughout school he was a talented athlete, breaking several high school basketball records at Williamsburg. He attended Upper Iowa University and worked for 14 years at Wensco Sign Supplies, retiring in 2013.

He was an avid golfer, a fan of the Chicago Bears and always loyal to the Black and Gold.

He will be remembered by many as a man with an infectious sense of humor, always quick to make people laugh.

Petz is survived by his children, Nicholas Petz, Davenport; Brittany Petz, Bettendorf, and Matthew Petz, Long Grove; siblings, Duane (Barb) Petz, Iowa City; Annette (Nick) Smith, Frisco, Texas; Connie (Bob) Richards, Iowa City; Rick Petz, Williamsburg; Joe Petz, Williamsburg; Angie (Craig) Cochran, West Branch, and David Petz, Williamsburg; granddaughters, Haley and Aliyah Petz, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Lyle Petz.
