Dolores Petrzelka, 81

Funeral Services for Dolores L.
Petrzelka, 81, rural Amana, were held at
10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at St. Michael’s
Catholic Church, Norway. She died Fri-
day afternoon, April 11, 1997, at Marengo
Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

The Rev. Walter Kleinfehn officiated
at the service.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery,
Marengo. Casket bearers were David
Benson, Dean Benson, Harry Pat Healey
Jr., Monte Riha, Melvin Dennis and Larry
Cheney.

A Memorial fund has been established.

Kloster-Valentine Funeral Home,
Marengo was in charge of arrangements.

Dolores Lucille Petrzelka was born Oct.
11, 1915, at North English, the daughter
of George and Bridget Carney Cheney.
She attended Iowa County schools.

She married Joseph Petrzelka May 16,
1939, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church,
Marengo. While her husband served in
the U. S. Army during World War II, she
she worked as a sales person for the Great
American and Pacific Tea Company. Af-
ter he returned from the war, the couple
had farmed in Iowa County since 1947.

She was a member of St. Michael’s
Catholic Church, Norway.

Petrzelka is survived by one son, Arthur
and wife Ann, Amana; one daughter,
Patricia Preston and husband David,
Edmund, Okla.; one brother, Art Cheney,
Marengo; one half-brother, LeRoy
Cheney, Dacoma, Okla.; one sister, Jessie
Langlas, Marengo; four half sisters, June
True, Blackwell, Okla.; Lucille Walborn,
Dacoma; Frances Gunning, Enid, Okla.;
and Elsie Jane Maltby, Carmen, Okla.;
and five grandchildren, Brian and Brenda
Preston and Joseph, Sara and Thomas
Petrzelka.

She was preceded in death by her hus-
band, Joseph, on Jan. 23, 1997; her par-
ents, one sister, Loretta Benson, and one
half-brother, Charles Cheney.
