Welma Dietrich, 95

Funeral service for Welma F. Dietrich, 95, Marengo, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo. She died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at her home following a brief illness.

The Rev. Grant Speece officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Ladora Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity UCC Memorial Fund.

Welma Frances Dietrich was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Ladora, the daughter of Wilmer and Adella Randolph Clevenger. She attended the Ladora school and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College with a teaching degree. She taught school in Lincoln Number 6 country school.

She married Donald E. Dietrich April 18, 1942, in Bethany, Mo. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, along with being an excellent homemaker, cook, gardener and seamstress. In her free time she liked to embroider and cross stitch.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo.

Dietrich is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald; two sons, Keith A. (Gloria) Dietrich, Mission, Texas, and Gene E. (Jill) Dietrich, Marengo; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a sister, Dorothy Clevenger Johnson, Urbandale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-sister, Beatrice Clevenger McDonald.
