Parnell - D. W. Gray died sud-
denly Saturday evening at his home
southwest of town. He was stricken
while feeding the chickens. About
a half hour after he was taken to the
house he died of a heart attack,
which was the decision of C. E. Van
Dyke of North English, county cor-
oner. His death occurred at six
o'clock.

Mr. Gray had not been ill and his
sudden death came as great shock
to his family and friends.

Daniel William Gray was born
October 8, 1876, the son of Thomas
and Mary Gillin Gray, at the Gray
farm home a few miles east of Par-
nell. His parents came here from Ire-
land (sic. - his father came from Ire-
land), and established their home and
were prominent and prosperous far-
mers until the time of their death.

Mr. Gray lived nearly his entire
life in this vicinity. He was married
to Elizabeth Newkirk of Holbrook on
April 26, 1904, in St. Michael's
church.

He is survived by his wife, five
sons, Francis, John, Edward, Leon-
ard and Emmett and four daughters,
Mrs. George Fowler of Waterloo,
Mary, Agnes and Loretta and one
grandchild. One brother, Matthew
Gray of Kinross, also survives him.

Members of Bishop Davis Council
Knight of Columbus, gathered at
the Gray home Sunday to recite the
rosary, as one of the sons is a mem-
ber of the council.

A requiem high mass was held
Tuesday morning in St. Joseph's
church at 9:30 with the Rev. J. M.
Cash in charge. Burial was made in
St. Michael's cemetery in Holbrook
with Ellsworth Coxe, John Jennings,
Sr., William Leahy, H. E. Brecht,
Leighton Claypool and Orville Kolo-
sick acting as pall bearers.

D. Gray was an industrious and
highly respected citizen. He was a
faithful attendant at St. Joseph's
church her for many years and his
chief interests were centered in his
faith, his family and his home. His
wide circle of relatives and friends
were deeply grieved to hear of his
sudden death.
