Darlene Stineford, 81

Mass of Christian burial for Darlene M. Stineford, 81, Marion, formerly of Blairstown, was held Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. John Catholic Church, Blairstown. She died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a courageous battle with cancer.

The Rev. Craig Steimel officiated at the service.

Interment of cremains was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown.

A memorial fund has been established for Mercy Hospice.

Darlene M. Stineford was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Lamont, the daughter of William and Marjorie Lawless Dozark. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1950 and attended Mt. Mercy College for two years.

She worked as an elementary teacher in Blairstown for many years. She was also a substitute teacher for the Benton Community School District. After retiring from teaching, she worked a number of years at the Ox Yoke Inn, Amana, where she made the best pies and also worked at the Amana General Store.

She married Willis Stineford Aug. 14, 1954, at St. John Catholic Church, Blairstown. The couple farmed south of Blairstown for many years, retiring to Marion to be near their grandchildren.

Stineford is survived by one son, Steve M. Stineford, North English; Vicki (Steve) Moshier, Marion; grandchildren, Marcus and Halle Moshier; brother, Edward Dozark, Galveston, Texas; sisters, Ann Agnew, Knoxville, Tenn.; Maryjo (Harold) Barker, West Des Moines, and Billie Marie (Jim Craig) Dozark, Iowa City, and sister-in-law, Evelyn (Bert) Charlesworth, Grand Junction, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her parents-in-law, Gus and Florence Stineford.
