Terry Harriman, 74

Celebration of life service for Terry L. Harriman, 54, North English, was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the North English Christian Church. He died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Luke Caster officiated at the service.
Burial was in the North English Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Iowa County 4-H Building Fund, the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center or University of Iowa Spiritual Services.

Terry Lynn Harriman was born May 25, 1959, in Sigourney, the son of Lynn and Dorothy (Lekin) Harriman. He graduated from English Valleys High School in 1977.

He married Julie Owens Nov. 7, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. He farmed and worked for Sullivan Graphics until 1997. Then he began working for the Iowa County Secondary Roads Department where he operated a road grader.
He enjoyed farm tractors, toy shows, auctions, farming, raising cattle, watching NASCAR with Seaba, going to his children’s sporting events and helping them with 4-H. He also enjoyed having his kids’ friends over.

Harriman is survived by his wife, Julie; one son, Trent, and one daughter, Taylor, all North English; his mother and step-father, Dorothy and Rex Stout, North English; his father, Lynn Harriman, Ottumwa; his grandmother, Lenore Lekin, North English; one brother, Mike (Beth) Stout, Newton; two sisters, Jackie (Mark) Carlson, Newton, and Bobbie (Rory) Larsen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; an aunt and uncle, Doris and Robert Reinert, North English; cousins, Roberta (Craig) Trost, Connecticut, and Melody (Eric) Schwenke, Sigourney; his father- and mother-in-law, Hugh and Shirley Owens, Homestead; three brothers-in-law, Doug (Sandy) Owens, Oxford; Michael (Trilby) Owens and Mark (Jeanne) Owens, all Homestead, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
