David Feston Williams, 88, of Hiawatha, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, after a brief stay at Emeritus at Silver Pines in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with a visitation an hour before, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, with Pastor Daniel Krueger officiating. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, following the service.

David is survived by three sons, Gary (Coralie) Williams of Hiawatha and Donald (Cheryl) Williams and Randy (Lisa) Williams, both of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Russell Williams of Monticello; six grandchildren, Spencer (Andrea) Williams of Central City, Brooke (Casey) Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Justin (Jessica) Williams of Merriam, Kan., Zachary (Heidi) Williams of Cedar Rapids, Nicholas (Renee) Williams of Cedar Rapids and Anna Williams of Cedar Rapids; and eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Olivia, Sophia, Madison, River, Paige, Samuel and Carter.He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; a daughter, Christine; a great-grandson, Henry; two brothers and four sisters.David was born May 27, 1925, in Williamsburg, Iowa, to Gwilym and Mary Ada [Roberts] Williams.

He served for three years in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard and traveled most of the world’s oceans. He returned home and married Gladys Weaver of Chelsea on Aug. 27, 1947. They lived in Williamsburg for 10 years and moved to Hiawatha in 1957.

David loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at their cabin on the Wapsipinicon River with his family. David enjoyed being with his grandchildren and watching sports. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.

A memorial fund has been established.
