Mass of Christian burial for Dolores A. Wolters, 85, Charlotte, N.C., was held at 11 a.m. Sept. 16 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in the Daily Mass Chapel, Charlotte. She died Aug. 28, 2013, in Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte NC Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204.

Dolores Ann Wolters was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Dr. Irvin J. and Elizabeth Garrigan Sinn. She graduated from Williamsburg High School, then graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City in 1948. She worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital.

She married Richard Wolters, West Liberty, in 1948 and they settled in Rock Island, Ill., where she was employed as a nurse in the office of Dr. Eugene Moses. The couple had two children, John and Beth.

In 1968, the family moved to Fairfax, Va. After her husband’s retirement, the couple moved to Sarasota, Fla. She later moved to Charlotte to be closer to her daughter and family.

She and her husband were active golfers, bridge players, cruise travelers and had an interest in music. Her husband was a member of numerous dance and jazz bands.

Wolters is survived by one son, John and Cheryl Wolters and their children, Caroline and Jack; one daughter, Beth and Paul Hecimovich and their children, Megan, Erin, John Ryan and Richard Henry; one sister, Alberta and Norman Kallaus, and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one brother, Robert and Stella Sinn.
