Linda Powell, 61

Funeral service for Linda M. Powell, 61, Victor, formerly of Belle Plaine, were held Saturday, Sept. 7, at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, rural Williamsburg. She died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.

The Rev. Eric Nygren officiated at the service.

Inurnment will be at a later date.

Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, was in charge of arrangements.

Linda Marie Powell was born Nov. 9, 1951, in Independence, the daughter of Cletus and Leona (Berns) Friedman. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School.

She married Doug Powell March 10, 2000, in Marengo. She moved to her present home in 2001.

She had a varied career, which included working at Amana, Main Street Cafe, Victor Manufacturing and PCS Homecare. She was active in many church activities, including VBS, delivering meals to shut-ins on Thanksgiving and various mission programs.

Powell is survived by her husband, Doug, victor; step-children, Jessica and Bryan Kimble, Frederick, Md., and Don Mull, Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, Leona Harris, Belle Plaine; brothers, Robert Friedman, Austin, Texas; Dave and Sheryl Friedman, Blakesburg; Dan and Monica Friedman, Belle Plaine; Gary and Jo Friedman, DeWitt; Dennis Friedman and Vicki Waterbury, Jefferson, and sisters, Judy and Terry Van Tomme, Brooklyn; Sandy and Jim Scott, Fayetteville, Ga.; Margaret and Darrel Johnson, Marengo, and Mary and Mike DeRycke, Victor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cletus Friedman, in 2012.
