Jeanetta Eggerling, 100

Funeral service for Jeanetta M. Eggerling, 100, Williamsburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She died peacefully Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

The Rev. Carl Cloeter officiated at the service.

Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Jeanetta Marie Eggerling was born March 29, 1913, in Paul, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Johanna Griepenstroh Beccard. She attended Syracuse, Neb., schools.

She married Herold H. Eggerling Jan. 8, 1936, in Syracuse. The couple moved to Williamsburg in July 1947. He died Jan. 6, 2002.

She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She was employed as a seed technologist with Holden Foundation Seeds for over 50 years. She was involved in many aspects of seed research and was a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Holden’s team. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She loved her garden, especially her flowers, and always had plenty of blooms to enjoy.

Eggerling is survived by one daughter, Alice and Leo McCarthy, Cedar Rapids; three sons, Donald and Glenda, Ames; Arlen and Jan, Pella, and Arthur and Delores, Delphi, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Allen and Sarah Dvorak, Randy and Sheri Dvorak, Kristin Eggerling and Paul Blomquist, Lara Eggerling and Yasu Kobayashi, Kari Eggerling and Bob Cappello, Jennifer Eggerling-Boeck and Paul, Leisa and Joe Michmershuizen, Karen and Joel Meinders, Kevin and Jenny Eggerling and Suzette and Mike Lisowski; 24 great-grandchildren, Erika, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Sarah Beth, Katherine, Josef, Caleb, Soren, Finn, Shaw, Sen, Renan, Karise, Marijka, Metje, Mariel, Miriam, Lila, Sylvia, Theodore, Nickolas, Olin, Jay and Savannah; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Leah, Aaron and Lauryn, and two sisters-in-law, Donna Beccard, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Ella Beccard, Syracuse, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; one sister, Sylvia Eggerling; five brothers, Olin, Ralph, Vernon, Lyle and Lloyd Beccard; one daughter-in-law, the Rev. Mary Eggerling, and one son-in-law, Henry Dvorak.
