Celebration of life service for Clarence L. Huedepohl, 90, Millersburg, was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his home near Millersburg.

The Rev. Carl Cloeter officiated at the service. Organist was Peggy Wardenburg. Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Nearer My God to Thee.”

Burial was in the Millersburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Chris Montross, Alan Husband, Wayne Meyer, Gary Blaylock, Stan Weiss and Randy Wade.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.

Clarence Lewis Huedepohl was born Nov. 5, 1922, near Homestead in Iowa County, the son of Lewis and Anna (Von Weihe) Huedepohl. He was baptized Feb. 27, 1923, and confirmed March 11, 1937, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Homestead. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School.

He married Ramona LeRue Weiss April 29, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Victor.

Together, the couple farmed west of Millersburg for many years.

After retiring, he worked at Husband Feed and was a handyman for Jim Reitzler and Keith Fish.
He spent most of his life in the Millersburg area, where those who knew him well called him by his nickname, “Bones.”

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Millersburg, where he served as congregational chair for 18 years and as an elder.

He enjoyed going to the coffee club in Millersburg, riding and driving his horses and mules and watching Hawkeye basketball but his passion was his family and church, especially his grandsons.

Huedepohl is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ramona, Millersburg; three children, Joyce and Michael Glaser, Omaha, Neb.; Gloria and Dan Harrington, Alpine, Calif., and Steve and Mary Huedepohl, Parnell; five grandsons; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Norma McCoy, Williamsburg, and Leona Wille, North English.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters, Linda Lorenz, Dora Lorenz, Elmer Huedepohl, Agnes Soedt, Walter Huedepohl, Freda Jones, Flora Teggatz, Melva Wade and Alfred Huedepohl.
