Lester H. Zuber, 88 of Cedar Rapids, died March 9, 2006, following a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church by Pastor Joe Polzin and Pastor Paul Scheidt. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae; two sons, Terry (Joanne) Zuber of Norway and Tim Zuber of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Chris (Paul) Engelby of Fairmont, Minn., Patty (Lewis) McDorman of Bowie, Md., Brad Zuber of Surprise, Ariz., Kim Zuber of Phoenix and Ben Zuber of Cedar Rpaids; a great-grandson, Jake McDorman; and twin great-granddaughters, Emily and Ashley Engelby.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Zuber; and an aunt and uncle, Henry and Christine Eckert, who raised Lester.

Lester was born June 26, 1917, in Amana, Iowa. He graduated from Blairstown High School. He married Ella Mae Possehl on Aug. 10, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Parsonage in Newhall, Iowa. Lester worked for over 42 years at Collins Radio and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church since 1942.
