Betty Knapp, 86

Funeral service for Betty L. Knapp, 86, Walford, formerly of Marengo, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion.

The Rev. Tom Reuss officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Betty Lou Olson was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Fairfax, the daughter of Oliver Lee and Esther Leader Olson. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1945 and began teaching in one-room country schools. Later, she was employed at Wilson Foods, Cedar Rapids, for 35 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford.

Knapp is survived by two sons, Rory (Kevin), Marion, and Fred, North English; one daughter, Mary Gomez, Marengo; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Knapp, Cody and Megan Knapp, Casey and Alicia Knapp, Caylie Knapp, Kendra Gomez, Kaitlyn Gomez, Krisha Gomez, Keegan Cope, Kevin Kolsto, Ashton Meek and Michael Joyner; four great-grandchildren, Simon Fitzpatrick, Carter Knapp, Christy Knapp and Cora Knapp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Evelyn Septer and Vivian Yoder; one brother-in-law, John Septer; one nephew, Duane Olson Sr. and one grandniece, Debbie Martinson.
