Arland H. Wyant, 95, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at his home in North English. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at the North English Christian Church with the Rev. Michael Donahue officiating. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the North English Christian Church and Essence of Life Hospice.

Arland Humphrey Wyant was born on March 21, 1918, near Millersburg, Iowa, a son of Alfred Arland and Mae Coral Humphrey Wyant. He grew up in the Millersburg community and graduated from Millersburg High School. Arland married June Arlene Mohr on Feb. 4, 1940, in South English. She preceded him in death in March 1980. Arland later married Reva May Gilchrist Claypool on July 9, 1982, in North English.

Arland farmed in the Millersburg and South English communities. He also worked 12 years at Farmers Grain and Lumber in South English and seven years as the bridge foreman for Keokuk County. He later mowed Knoll Ridge Golf Course and for many years was sexton of the North English Cemetery. Arland was a member of the North English Christian Church — Disciples of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. He served 10 years on the Keokuk County Conservation Board, three years on the Keokuk County Extension Council, the South English City Council and was an active member of the Keokuk County Farm Bureau where he served as vice president and president.

Arland is survived by his wife, Reva of North English; a daughter, Vickie Wyant of South English; and special friend, Susan Sass, and Karla and Darla Sass; two grandchildren, Shana Pins and Rene Wyant; five great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Nancy Lee (Lavon) Rutt of Iowa City; three stepgrandchildren, Matthew Dhondt, Chris Rutt and Jay Rutt; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; a son, Gary Wyant; stepdaughter, Sally Hulbert; grandson, Michael Wyant; sisters, Helen Horras and Marilyn Gorsch; and a brother, Gerald Wyant.
