Funeral Service: 10:00 AM September 24, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English, IA

Interment: September 24, 2008 at Sorden Cemetery, rural Webster, IA

Claude Harry Krumm was born March 26,1938 in Grinnell, IA, to Marion and Thelma Gillespie Krumm.

Claude graduated from Tri-County High School in 1957. He married Mary Clarene Johnston on September 13, 1958 at Immaculate Conception Church of Armah.

Claude operated keswick Oil Co. for 14 years, and Krumm Construction for 26 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Keswick for over 35 yrs years, a member of the Keswick Commercial Club, Keswick Lions Club, Opera House Board, Church Council for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and past mayor of Keswick.

Claude enjoyed woodworking and carving, making stained glass crafts, square dancing and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Claude died of cancer at his home in Keswick on Sunday, September 21, 2008. He lived 70 years, 5 months and 26 days.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Mary Clarene: his children, Christine (Kim) Jahlas of Victor; Doug (Laurie) Krumm of Swisher; Kaye (Scott) Gettings of Ottumwa; Holly (Dale) Fry of Keswick; Andy (Mary) Krumm of Louisville, Ky; David (Penny) Krumm of Keswick; and Matt Krumm of Chicago, Il; 18 grandchildren: Erin, Shawn, and Nathen Jahlas; Dustin, Colton, and Kenton Krumm; Elizabeth, Courtney, and Madelyn Gettings; Joel, Tina and Melody Fry; Ashley, Tommy, and Caroline Krumm; and Katie, Kristin, and Cameron Krumm; sisters Elizabeth McIntosh of Spotsylvania, PA; Virginia Van Patten of Madera, CA; and Barbara Buckley of Chillicothe, MO; brothers Lawrence Krumm of Turlock, CA; Harvey Krumm of Foley, AL; Wesley Krumm of Killduff, IA, and Keith Krumm of Murfreesboro, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margareta Irene, his father-in-law Cloyd Johnston and a brother-in-law Ray Clubb.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in North English with the Rev. Pat Lumsden officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English with a Wake Service at 7:30 PM. Burial will be in the Sorden Cemetery., near Keswick. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com under obituaries. A memorial fund has been established for Keokuk County Hospice and Keswick First Responders.
